Dr. Hani M. Korani is a board-certified small animal surgeon (Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons – Small Animal) dedicated to providing advanced surgical care with a collaborative and compassionate approach.

Through his mobile practice, H&M VetSurg, Dr. Korani brings the expertise and capabilities of a specialty surgical center directly to your trusted family veterinary practice here in the Bay Area. His mission is simple: to make specialist-level surgery accessible, less stressful for patients, and more integrated for primary care veterinarians, ensuring a seamless circle of care for every animal.

The Journey to Surgical Specialization 🎓

Dr. Korani’s path to becoming a surgical specialist was driven by a passion for the intricate mechanics of the body and the profound impact that skilled surgery can have on an animal’s quality of life.

He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Cairo University, Egypt. Following graduation, he completed a demanding one-year rotating internship in medicine and surgery at Tuskegee University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where he gained broad experience in all facets of veterinary care.

With a clear focus on surgery, Dr. Korani was then selected for a rigorous three-year surgical residency at the North Carolina State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (NCSU VTH). This intensive program provided him with advanced training in orthopedic, soft tissue, neurologic, and oncologic surgery under the mentorship of world-renowned specialists.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Korani successfully passed the rigorous examination to become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (DACVS). This board certification represents the highest level of specialization in the field, a distinction held by only a small percentage of veterinarians. After working in large specialty hospitals, he founded H&M VetSurg to bring that same level of care to a more personal, collaborative setting.

• Orthopedic Surgery: Fracture repair, TPLO/TTA for cranial cruciate ligament disease, joint procedures, and corrective osteotomies.
• Soft Tissue Surgery: Complex oncological (cancer) surgery, advanced abdominal and thoracic procedures, and reconstructive surgery.
• Neurological Surgery: Spinal procedures for intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

Growing up on a farm in her Home Country, Martha always had a deep interest in caring for animals. She started her career at a very young age when she joined a technician program for farm animals during high school. Then, she joined vet school at Universidad Nacional Agraria in Nicaragua, where she completed three years until 2018, when she moved to San Francisco to continue her education here. Martha started working at an animal hospital in 2019, where she found her passion, providing care for small animals.

Veterinary Assistant

Celine is a dedicated Veterinary Assistant with a lifelong passion for animals. Her journey began in high school when she volunteered with animals, and she went on to earn a degree in Zoology to further her knowledge and expertise. With hands-on experience and a deep love for animals, Celine is committed to providing compassionate care to every patient. At home, she shares her life with three dogs, reinforcing her personal connection to animal care and welfare.

Veterinary Assistant

Joycei is a compassionate member of our team with nearly four years of experience in veterinary urgent care. Born and raised in San Francisco, she brings patience, kindness, and a true love for animals to every visit. When she’s not caring for patients, she’s at home with her four black cats.

Veterinary Assistant

Jamie has been passionate about animal care since childhood, beginning with rescuing and nursing strays. She earned her degree in Animal Science from UC Davis and is currently working as a Veterinary Assistant while pursuing her goal of becoming a veterinarian. With a strong background in animal behavior and handling, Jamie is dedicated to providing compassionate care to every patient. At home, she enjoys the company of her spirited Chihuahua, Freya, and her curious cat, Maki Roll, who inspire her daily.

Lead Veterinary Technician

With over 30 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Christine is a dedicated and highly skilled veterinary technician committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to animals and their families. Throughout a long-standing career, Christine has developed extensive expertise in patient care, client education, surgical assistance, and diagnostic procedures. Known for a calm and reassuring presence in both clinical and emergency settings, Christine is passionate about animal welfare and supporting the human-animal bond. Outside of work, Christine shares life with a beloved dog and cat, who serve as daily reminders of the importance of the work done in veterinary care.

Veterinary Technician

Kalina is a Veterinary Technician with over five years of experience working in animal hospitals throughout the Bay Area. Her passion for animal care extends beyond the clinic to her own pets, two cats and a Chihuahua, who are her constant companions. Together, they enjoy relaxing in the sun, reading, and exploring creative projects.

Rachel was born and raised in San Francisco and has been working in the veterinary hospital industry since 2016. With nearly a decade of front desk and client service experience, she brings warmth, professionalism, and a genuine passion for animal care to every interaction. She is the proud pet parent of a 10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier and understands firsthand the deep bond between pets and their families. Rachel is committed to providing exceptional support to both clients and their pets, ensuring that every visit is as smooth and welcoming as possible.
